PREOBRAZBA VISOKOŠOLSKIH KNJIŽNIC ZA UČINKOVITO PODPORO SPREMENJENIM MATIČNIM OKOLJEM

IZVLEČEK
Visokošolske knjižnice so že od nastanka prvih univerz predstavljale enega ključnih dejavnikov za uspešno uresničevanje njihovih poslanstev. Akademsko okolje jih je prepoznavalo kot družbena in intelektualna središča, kot »srce« univerze, in sicer tako v simbolnem pomenu kot pomenu njihove fizične umestitve v prostor visokošolskih ustanov. Pojav interneta ter hiter razvoj informacijske in komunikacijske tehnologije sta v visokošolskem izobraževalnem ter znanstvenoraziskovalnem procesu povzročila številne spremembe, ki so spodbudile tako razmišljanja o prihodnosti visokošolskih knjižnic kot tudi njihove odzive na spremenjene potrebe matičnih okolij. V članku so predstavljeni nekateri izzivi, s katerimi se srečujejo visokošolske knjižnice po svetu, ter njihova prizadevanja za ohranitev osrednje vloge v svojih akademskih okoljih. Izkušnje tujih knjižnic so lahko vodilo pri oblikovanju vizije razvoja slovenskih visokošolskih knjižnic in njihovem odzivanju na spremembe v okolju. A njihova prihodnost bo odvisna tudi od nadaljnjega razvoja izobraževalnega in znanstvenoraziskovalnega procesa na njihovih matičnih visokošolskih zavodih ter prepoznavanja vloge knjižnic kot dejavnika, ki pomembno vpliva na njegove končne izide.
